Smart Power has been with Westpac since 2007 helping it realise the dream of building a sustainable future where resources are carefully managed today to support future generations. Its “Our Tomorrow” project launched in 2008 covers all 197 branches and over 5,000 employees.
Smart Power was engaged to help Westpac with energy reporting and management of its facilities. We developed an energy management policy with Westpac and an implementation plan. Two years into its “Our Tomorrow” project, Westpac had already made significant improvements in the area of energy consumption, with gas and electricity use down 21% and CO2 emissions down by 28%
To achieve these results the overall energy performance of all sites throughout New Zealand is monitored on a monthly basis through dashboard reporting provided by Smart Power. This gives a snapshot of how each site is performing and allows comparisons to be made of forecast consumption and cost against actual and year-to-date against budget.
Those sites which are performing badly against targets are investigated as are sites with unexplained changes in consumption.
An Energy Knowledge Group meets on a regular basis to review the data for corporate sites, this leads to savings through continuous commissioning.
Our e-Smart reporting resource allows Westpac to access energy information online using a series of reports. Information is automatically uploaded from the Smart Power bill verification database on a regular basis to meet Westpac’s requirements. This system is easy to use, it provides staff with immediate information and is backed up by phone and email contact to Smart Power for further energy management assistance.
The EECA Awards celebrate organisations and individuals who have demonstrated excellence and innovation in energy efficiency or renewable energy.
